Young Women's Football League kicks off in Kobanî

Kobanî - 1st Young Women's Football League kicked off in Kobanî. The opening match was between the Democratic Society Education Committee (KPC-D) team and Workers Team of the Kurdish Left Party. The KPC-D claimed a 1-0 away victory against the Workers Team.

Today, the second match of the league between Berxwedan (Resistance) Yekîtî (Unity) will take place.

“Football is a collective sport”

KPC-D team player Istêr Ehmed has played football since she was five years old. All players of the team are professional football players.

“We trust both ourselves and our teammates, and we play collectively. Football is not an individual sport; it is a collective sport. We won this match and we will continue to win with a more collective stance.”

“We got more excited”

Reminding that this is the first league organized in their city, KPC-D team captain Evîn Ehmed said they enjoy playing football at the 1st Young Women's Football League.

“We were very excited and we played with great enthusiasm. When the fans clapped and cheered, we got more excited. I have done sports since my childhood but I haven’t been so excited before.”
