15-year-old kickboxer Nurhan invites women to learn kickboxing

Nurhan İbrahim is only 15 years old but she has been a professional kickboxer for six years. Nurhan recommends women learning kickboxing to defend themselves.

Qamishlo- People think women are not “hard enough” for martial arts but 15-year-old Nurhan İbrahim shows how women can be strong for martial arts. Nurhan İbrahim has been a professional kickboxer for six years and she is an asayish member in her city.

Nurhan has participated in many competitions held in Syria. She won championships in the competitions held in Damascus and Latakia. Let’s learn her story from her; “My father encouraged me. He has supported me to become a professional in this sport. Actually, all my family members interest in sports, I come from a very athletic family. I both go to school and do sports.”

“Everyone should spend an hour per day doing sports”

Nurhan talked about the benefits of sports on the body, “Actually, everyone should spend an hour per day doing sports. I was very young when I started doing sports and I had very difficult times but now I do sports without any difficulties. Women need to protect themselves and every woman should learn martial arts to defend themselves.”

She wants to form a kickboxing group consists of only women

Nurhan thinks women should develop themselves in sports and martial arts. “No one should ever say, 'I can't do this sport'. Especially women can do this sport and they can develop themselves in this sport. I believe that women can do it, and all I want is to form a kickboxing group consists of only women in the future,” said Nurhan, who also wants to participate in international championships.
