Hasakah- The Syrian Democratic Youth Council has launched a campaign to promote youth participation in politics and decision-making positions.

“In Syria, crises, conflicts, authoritarianism, as well as sectarian and religious conflicts cause poverty and social exclusion, particularly among young people,” Sara Hassan, a member of the council, said while talking about the campaign. “Crises prevent young people from enjoying their most basic rights and participating in politics.”

The aim of the campaign is to empower youth political participation, Sara Hassan emphasized. “Our aim is to empower youth political participation because we, as young people, know that they are the drivers of change.”

The campaign targets youth groups not only in northeastern Syria but also across Syria and it will last for four months. As part of the campaign, many workshops on empowering youth political participation, democracy and decentralization, and democratic nation will be organized in different regions.

Call on young women

Sara Hassan called on young people, particularly young women to take action against the occupation of the Turkish state and support the campaign because “Young people must be the pioneers of change.”
