“The rights of Baluchi women are systematically violated”
The report released by the Baluchi Women’s Campaign group reveals that the rights of Baluchi women are systematically violated in Iran.
News Center- The Baluchi Women’s Campaign group has released a report about rights violations against Baluchi women in Iran. According to the report, Baluchi women are subjected to rights violations, discrimination, and disrespect in Iran.
“They are oppressed”
The report underlines that “being a woman means being treated like second-class citizens in Iran” but the Baluchi women are oppressed more. “Currently, Baluchi women are treated as second-class or even third-class citizens in Iranian society. They are oppressed by their relatives, particularly by their husbands, and by the state,” the report says.
“Zarkhatun Mazarzehi has been sentenced to death”
The report also includes the interview with Zarkhatun Mazarzehi’s relatives. Zarkhatun Mazarzehi, a Baluchi woman, was sentenced to death by the Kerman Revolutionary Court on the charge of crimes related to drugs. She was arrested in Kerman in 1996 when traveling to Shiraz. She is currently awaiting her execution in the Kerman prison.
“Zarkhatun Mazarzehi repeatedly denied the allegations during the trial and but she couldn’t hire a lawyer and she was sentenced to death,” her relative said.
Two women are held hostage in prison
Rahimeh Kurd Tamin and Jani Dekali are two women mentioned in the report. According to the report, the two women were arrested and prosecuted due to their husbands and children even if they are innocent. “They are held hostage in prison. Baluchi women have to maintain their lives in the grip of the Iranian regime's judicial system,” the report says.
