380th day of sit-in protest: IPPNW members visit Şenyaşar family
A delegation consisting of the members of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) visited the Şenyaşar family on the 280th day of their sit-down protest.
Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out on June 14, 2018, in Suruç by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, continues on its 380th day. Today, a delegation consisting of the members of the International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War (IPPNW) visited the Şenyaşar family. Fazilet Taştan Arserim, head of the Urfa Bar Association, accompanied the delegation.
“We will report our observations”
“You demand both perpetrators be arrested and justice by holding your sit-down protest. You cannot mourn or sit at home without the arrest of the perpetrators, without justice. It must have been difficult, particularly for the mother, to tell what she has gone through. When we return, we will report our observations. If you permit us, we want to write about your sit-down protest in our report,” Dr. Gisela Penteker, a member of the IPPNW, told the Şenyaşar family.
Reaction from the delegation to the police
Emine Şenyaşar shed tears while she was talking about what she has gone through. The delegation members listened to the mother. At that time, police took the photos and the members of the delegation reacted to the police by saying, “We are talking to them as doctors. This is the violation of the right to privacy.”
The delegation members left after holding the sit-down protest with the family for a while.
