The city of Blida, near the capital, woke today, Tuesday, August 25, to a tragic incident after the body of a child, no more than four years old, was found in the Fernan area of the delegated province of Bouinan, on the road leading to the Chréa nature reserve in the Blida Atlas Mountains, northern Algeria.

Preliminary information indicates that the body was found lying on the ground with smoke rising from its surroundings, prompting urgent intervention to transport it to the Frantz Fanon University Hospital for autopsy.

According to circulating information, rescue teams mobilized following a report of smoke suspected to be a fire in the forest. Upon arrival, they discovered the child's body, completely charred and disfigured by the flames, in addition to signs of gnawing likely caused by wild animals—deepening the local public's shock at the horrifying scene.

The case appears to point to a heinous and systematic criminal act. The child was subjected to a planned abduction and detention after the perpetrator exploited the mother's brief absence while she went shopping, leaving her vehicle in a commercial area. The perpetrator appears to have been watching the mother's movements, seizing the opportunity when she stepped away from the vehicle to abduct the child and disappear completely before committing the crime.

Within hours of the crime, social media platforms turned into a space of mourning and widespread anger, as the tragedy of the five-year-old child's death dominated public conversation following the discovery of his body in the Bouinan forest.

Public engagement has notably intensified in recent hours, following an urgent appeal issued by the regional group of the National Gendarmerie, accompanied by a photo of a suspect, aimed at locating him.

Thousands of activists expressed profound shock after the image was circulated, noting that the suspect's features, which do not suggest criminality, confirm that appearances can be deceptive. Intensified calls urged vigilance and caution, and for reporting him to bring justice for the innocent victim's soul.
