Dutch woman sentenced to 10 years in prison for enslaving Yazidi woman

A Dutch court Wednesday sentenced a woman identified as Hasna A. to 10 years in prison for enslaving a Yazidi woman after joining ISIS in Syria.

News Center- On Wednesday, a Dutch court in The Hague sentenced a woman identified as Hasna A. to 10 years in prison on charges of “enslavement”, “membership of a terrorist organization”, “promoting terrorist crimes”, and “endangering her young son” after joining ISIS in Syria.

The court announced the verdict, defining slavery as “a crime against humanity”.

Hasna A. traveled to Syria in 2015 along with her 4-year-old disabled son and married a member of ISIS. She was repatriated by the Dutch government from a prison camp in November 2022 along with 12 Dutch women and their 28 children and arrested in the Netherlands.

Two Yazidi women abducted by ISIS testified that Hasna A. enslaved them, forcing them to do household work and care for her disabled child between May and October 2015
