DİSK-AR: Unemployment rate for women stands at 41%
The Research Center of the Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK-AR) has published a report on the rate of unemployment in Turkey against the unemployment rate prepared by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK). The women are the most affected by the pandemic and the unemployment rate for women stands at 41%, according to DİSK-AR.
News Center- The Research Center of the Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK-AR) has published its report on the rate of unemployment in Turkey after the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) published the Unemployment Rate in October 2020. DİSK-AR draws attention to the fact that the defined unemployment rate and the number of unemployed people announced by TÜİK do not reflect the truth.
DİSK-AR calculates the number of unemployed people by using the method of ILO. According to DİSK-AR, 2, 246,000 people lost their jobs during the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak. The number of unemployed people increases by 1 million thousand to 10 million 681 thousand in October 2020 compared with the same period of the previous year. The unemployment rate in Turkey stands by 29, 8 percent in October of 2020.
Women are the most affected
863,000 women lost their job and 425,000 men lost their job in 2020. Thus, the employment rates for women fell 8 percentage points in a year, according to the report.
Women have no hope
There is a serious increase in the rate of women who lose hope of finding a job. While this rate was 98.3 percent for men, it increased by 168.4 percent for women.
