Paris agreement on climate submitted to parliament
Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdoğan submitted the Paris Agreement, an international treaty on climate change, to the parliament on Friday. Environmentalists and climate experts have demanded the ratification of the agreement in the country for years.
Ankara- The agreement has been ratified by many countries all around the world.
Some of the articles in the agreement are as follows;
“*Holding the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2°C above pre-industrial levels and pursuing efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, recognizing that this would significantly reduce the risks and impacts of climate change.
* All Parties should strive to formulate and communicate long-term low greenhouse gas emission development strategies.
* Parties should take action to conserve and enhance, as appropriate, sinks and reservoirs of greenhouse gases.
* Each Party shall communicate a nationally determined contribution every five years in accordance with decision 1/CP21."
