Heseke –In Syria, thousands have sacrificed their lives to build a democratic country and to have a dignified life for 10 years. On July 15, 2021, the Autonomous Administration formed a committee, consisting of 30 members, to draft the social solidarity to protect the rights and property of all peoples in the region. Later, the number of its members was increased to 158 members in order to include all segments of the region.

“The rights of minorities are guaranteed”

Stressing that the coalition guarantees the rights of all segments and minorities in the region, lawyer Beşira İsmail said, “When the Syrian state was founded, many segments were ignored. For instance, Yazidi people weren’t mentioned in any laws. Everyone should know that the nation-state constitution means nothing to us but war, murder and reactionary.”

“Women have taken part in every part of life”

Stating that 50 percent of women participate in social solidarity and this is a historical step, Beşira İsmail continued to talk as follows: “After the liberation of cities, women began to take part in administrations, committees, political and social areas. The women’s participation in these areas is remarkable. Women have protected their rights with their participation. On February 11, the Social Coalition Committee held a two-day meeting. The representatives of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, NGOs, political parties, public figures, Arab tribes, and lawyers attended the meeting. At the meeting, we discussed the economic, political, social and cultural situation of the region.”

“Problems will be solved with solidarity”

Emphasizing the importance of social solidarity, Beşira İsmail said, “There are many Kurds, Arabs, Armenians and other peoples living in Syria but the Syrian Constitution includes a monistic understanding. After the Revolution in Rojava, the people believed in democratic unity and they established this committee. This alliance has paved the way for the integration of all segments according to their beliefs and languages, and the Syrian crisis will be solved with this solidarity."
