Makhmur- The 4th April Festival, which has been held for the 14th time this year in the Makhmur refugee camp, continues with ecological, sportive, and cultural activities.

The festival has been held for the 14th time to mark the birthday of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan. Today, people gathered in the garden of the Nuri Dersimi Primary School to celebrate the birthday of Abdullah Öcalan. Children wearing colorful clothes went to the Makhmur Culture and Art Center and planted trees as part of the festival’s program.

Berivan Kaya, a teacher at the school, made a speech about the meaning and importance of the day. After her speech, “dengbêjs (Kurdish storytellers)” took the stage. The children participated in many activities such as sports and cultural activities. While the children are having a fun day, the festival will continue the whole day.
