Women of TJA, Green Left Party, HDP condemn attacks on NE Syria
Women members of the TJA, Green Left Party and HDP gathered in Amed to discuss the election results and determine a road map. At the meeting, the women condemned the attacks on North and East Syria.
News Center- Women members of the Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA), the Party of the Greens and the Left Future (Green Left Party) and the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) had a meeting at the building of the Eğitim-Sen (Teachers’ Union) Amed Branch No.2 to discuss the election results of the parliamentary and presidential elections held in Turkey in May, 2023 and determine a road map.
HDP Party Assembly member Emine İnan made a short speech at the meeting attended by many women. In her speech, she condemned the killing of Qamishlo Co-chair Yousra Darwish, her deputy Lîman Şiwêş and her driver Fırat Tuma between Bandar and Tal Sh’ir villages in Qamishlo by the Turkish drones. “We commemorate all the martyrs of freedom in the person of Yousra Darwish, Liman Şiwêş and Fırat Tuma. These airstrikes are not ordinary airstrikes. Women are deliberately targeted and killed. These attacks are a message; it (the Turkish state) aims to achieve what it could not achieve in Bakur by attacking Rojava. The Kurdish women's movement is particularly targeted.”
Reporting that they would hold meetings and gatherings to discuss the election results, Emine İnan said:
“The meetings that will be held in Turkey and Kurdistan will be important meetings. The women’s movement has been going through a very important period. We had an election process. The women’s movement played an important role in this period. These election results cannot determine our struggle; nothing has been finalized yet. We are all responsible for this process. At the meetings, we will discuss what we did and did not.”
After her speech, the meeting started as a closed meeting.
