‘Women of Makhmour stand by women of Afghanistan and Shengal’

Fadîle Tok, member of the İştar Assembly, says women of the İştar Assembly support the campaign by the KJK, “As women of Makhmour, we always stand by women of Afghanistan and Shengal. We will fight and win.”

Makhmour- Women and women’s organizations keep releasing statements to express their support to the campaign launched the Kurdistan Women’s Communities (Komalên Jinên Kurdistan-KJK) from August 3 to August 15 with the motto, “We stand by Afghan women and women of Shengal against male attacks of hegemony”. The İştar Assembly in the tMartyr Rustem Cudi Camp (Makhmour Refugee Camp) has held marches, seminars and activities since August 2 to support the campaign.

‘The KJK shows that it stands against persecution everywhere by launching this campaign’

In an interview with NuJINHA, Fadîle Tok, member of the İştar Assembly, commented on the campaign of the KJK. Highlighting that the women of Makhmour are always in solidarity with Afghan women, she said, “By launching this campaign, the KJK shows that it stands against the persecution and injustice practices of the Turkish state and ISIS, as well as of the Taliban. We support the campaign. We will always be in solidarity with all women facing persecution. We will keep being their voices.”

‘The struggle for freedom gives hope’

Highlighting the importance of the campaign, Fadîle Tok said, “Not only Kurdish women but also dissident and democrat women are oppressed. Even women living in countries defending democracy are oppressed. Our movement will always struggle against male governments and the patriarchal mindset.  The philosophy and struggle of the PKK give hope to women all around the world. Today, the ideology of leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) steers the women’s movement. We want to share our experiences with women all around the world to struggle together for freedom and build a Democratic Women's Confederalism.”

‘We will fight and win’

Fadîle Tok also talked about the aggravated isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. “Today, an aggravated isolation has been imposed on leader Apo in Imrali. The isolation imposed on our leader is also imposed on everyone, especially women. We will fight and win because we get our strength from the ideology, philosophy and struggle of leader Apo.”
