Women march in Taiz to demand end of siege
Women participating in the march held in the city of Taiz, southwest of Yemen, on Wednesday (May 25) demanded the roads of the city be opened.

Yemen- The representatives of political parties, women’s organizations and NGOs held a march in the Taiz Governorate of Yemen on Wednesday (May 25) to demand the end of siege in the governorate and the opening of the roads.
“Main roads should be opened”
Merwa El-Samei, one of the women participating in the march, told us that she participated in the march to demand the end of the siege imposed on the governorate for eight years.
Hana al-Sharjabi, a resident of the city of Taiz, also demanded the end of eight-year siege in her city and said that the people of Taiz have been suffering from the siege for years.
“We will continue to struggle until the main roads are opened”
Youths’ Political Parties Alliance member Adwa Al-Amir was another woman participating in the march. “We march today to end the siege imposed on Taiz. We call on the United Nations and the negotiating committees to see the suffering of the people of Taiz. We will continue to struggle until the main roads are opened,” she told NuJINHA.
“The siege imposed in Taiz should be ended”
Drawing attention to what has been happening in her country, Hana Al-Sharjabi said, “We take to the streets in order to raise our voices. Civilians in Taiz suffer from the high transportation costs because the roads are closed. Reopening the Sana'a International Airport is very important for the civilians. The main roads should be opened in order to end the suffering of the people.”
Stating that people of all ages took to the streets in order to demand the end of the siege and the opening of the roads, Safiya al-Humairi said, “We all suffer from this atrocity and all I want is the end of the siege since the beginning of the siege. We call on the international community to end this siege.”
