Kermanshah- Women in Iran and Eastern Kurdistan are getting ready to take to the streets on March 8, International Women’s Day, with the spirit of resistance. The women of Kermanshah have been leading the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi” uprising that sparked in Eastern Kurdistan and Iran following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini by Iran’s so-called “morality police” in Tehran.

Message of solidarity

Political activist H.G. from Kermanshah sent a video message to NuJINHA. “As women of Kermanshah, we are with all our people on March 8,” she said in the video message. “We express our solidarity with the women fighters, who resist discrimination and exploitation and fight for women’s freedom in the streets, prisons, at homes or on the battlefields, at factories and universities, and we send our greetings to them.”

‘We will no longer remain silent’

Pointing to the women’s roles on March 8, she said, “March 8 has a powerful impact on the strength and expansion of women's united struggle all around the world. March 8 has become a symbol of the fight against gender-based discrimination and violence for years. Women unite and rise up against the invasion of their bodies, souls, privacy and lands. We will no longer remain silent against violence, discrimination and historical exploitation against women."

Pointing to the resistance of political prisoner Zeynab Jalalian in Iran and Kurdish politician Sakine Cansız, who was murdered in Paris, she said, “As women of Kermanshah, we will follow in their footsteps. Thanks to the resistance of women such as Sara and Zeynab, the women's struggle has reached this point today. We will keep resisting until freedom, equality and real democracy are achieved.”

In the video, H.G. holds a sign reading, “March 8 is a day of resurrection against darkness”.
