Voice message from Gültan Kışanak for IWD

In a voice message, Gültan Kışanak, DEM Party's co-mayoral candidate for Ankara in the upcoming local elections, calls on all women to participate in activities for the International Women’s Day.

News Center- Imprisoned since 2016, Gültan Kışanak, Peoples’ Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party co-mayoral candidate for Ankara, sent a voice message from prison calling on all women to participate in the rallies and activities on March 8, International Women’s Day. “As women, we have been on the frontline of the struggle for peace and for resolution. We will continue to be on the frontline,” she says in the voice message.

As women, we once again suggest the method of the dialogue and negotiation for a resolution, Gültan Kışanak said in the voice message:

‘This is the only method that has been tried and resulted in success in the world. Apart from this method, all methods are based on victory or defeat, which means the continuation of the war and of sufferings and loss of lives. For this reason, we oppose the kill or kill policy to the end. We definitely oppose policies based on victory or defeat. We definitely oppose to the policies based on taking captive, annihilation and genocide to the end. As women, we believe wholeheartedly in dialogue, negotiation and discussion for the resolution. We will fight for this in the strongest possible way.

“We will voice these demands and strengthen the women's freedom struggle by participating in the rallies to be held on the International Women’s Day. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all women, who are going to participate in the rallies, work hard, and share their enthusiasm, morale and energy with women. I call on all women to participate in the rallies and activities to be held on March 8. All women should flock to the streets with their words, ululations, slogans and purple scarves. We should work more to ensure that women's solidarity, women’s organized struggle and women’s will are represented everywhere in the strongest way.”
