Diyarbakır- The indictment prepared by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office against 22 people, including 20 journalists, has been accepted by the Diyarbakır 4th Criminal Court. 22 people have been accused of “membership of a terrorist organization”.

On June 8, 2022, 22 people, including 20 journalists were detained in a massive operation in Diyarbakır. They were transferred to the court on terrorism charges after eight days in detention. The court imprisoned 16 journalists pending trial on charges of “membership of a terrorist organization”. The imprisoned journalists are Safiye Alagas, director of the women's news agency JinNews; Serdar Altan, co-chair of the Dicle and Firat Journalists Association (DFG); Aziz Oruç, the editor of the Mezopotamya Agency (MA); Mehmet Ali Ertaş, editor-in-chief of the Kurdish newspaper Xwebûn, as well as Zeynel Abidin Bulut, Ömer Celik, Mazlum Doğan Güler, İbrahim Koyuncu, Neşe Toprak, Elif Üngür, Abdurrahman Öncü, Suat Doğuhan, Remziye Temel, Ramazan Geciken, Lezgin Akdeniz and Mehmet Şahin.

Journalists Gülşen Koçuk, Esmer Tunç, Mehmet Yalçın, Kadir Bayram, Feynaz Koçuk and İhsan Ergülen were released under judicial control on the same day.

Although 16 journalists have been imprisoned pending trial for about 10 months, the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office finally prepared an indictment against them and presented it to the Diyarbakır 4th Criminal Court at the end of March. The court has reportedly accepted the indictment against the journalist.
