TJA to hold international conference on women political prisoners

The Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) will hold a two-day international conference in Amed with the motto, “Chain of Silence: Break the Walls around Women Political Prisoners”.

News Center- The Free Women’s Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Jinên Azad-TJA) will hold an international conference in Amed (Diyarbakır) from January 13 to 14 with the motto, “Chain of Silence: Break the Walls around Women Political Prisoners”.

Martina Anderson, an Irish former politician from Northern Ireland who served as a Member of the European Parliament representing Northern Ireland from 2012 to 2020, will make the opening speech at the conference to be held at Demir Hotel located in the district of Sur. On the first day of the conference, three panel discussions will be organized; the panel discussions titled, “A look at today's prisons in Turkey”, “Experiences and struggles of political women prisoners” and “National-international law relates to political trials and arrests”.

On the second day of the conference, rights violations against political women prisoners in Turkey and various parts of the world will be discussed. The aim of the conference is to share the experiences, struggles and resistance of women political prisoners and develop effective advocacy strategies and methods. Women from different countries such as the Philippines, Palestine, Colombia, Basque Country, Catalonia, Iran and Southern Kurdistan will participate in the conference.
