Sulaf Fawakherji Celebrates Her Film “Land of Angels” Reaching the Oscars
Syrian artist Sulfa Fawakherji celebrated her Iranian film “Land of Angels” being officially selected for the 2027 Oscars’ Best International Film category, making her the first Syrian actress to achieve.

Syrian star Sulaf Fawakherji expressed her pride in the selection of her film “ The Land of Angels” to represent Iran in the “Best International Film” category competitions within the 99th Academy Awards of 2027.
Sulaf Fawakherji posted on her social media accounts that she is proud to be the first Syrian actress to participate in the leading role of a feature-length narrative work reaching this global race.
The film, directed by Babak Khajeh Pasha, sheds light on the Palestinian cause and the suffering of children in Gaza amid the horrors of war. Sulaf Fawakherji shares the lead role with an elite of promising faces from the Arab world and Iran.
It is worth noting that the work previously won the Best Film Award at the Kazan Festival in Russia, and Sulaf Fawakherji won for it two Best Actress awards from Kazan and the Fajr International film Festival in Tehran.
