Sit-in protest of Şenyaşar family enters its 456th day

Emine Şenyaşar and her son Ferit Şenyaşar has held a sit-in protest in front of the Urfa Courthouse for 456 days to demand justice for their murdered relatives.

Riha - The sit-in protest held in front of the Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar, whose husband and two sons were murdered in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP Urfa MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız in the Suruç district of Urfa province on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar continues on its 456th day.

Today, Emine Şenyaşar stays at her home in the Suruç district of Urfa province due to her health problems while her son Ferit Şenyaşar is holding their sit-protest in front of the courthouse.

Making a speech in front of the courthouse, Ferit Şenyaşar recalled that 16 investigations have been launched against his mother Emine Şenyaşar for allegedly “insulting” AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız, Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu and public officials. “This unlawfulness must end as soon as possible,” he said.

“We have been detained many times, 16 investigations have been launched against us and five legal cases have been opened against us in order to end our sit-in protest. Now, they try to end our struggle by imposing a fine. No obstruction can stop our just struggle. Our sit-in protest for justice enters its 456th day,” the Şenyaşar family posted today on their social media account.
