Riha– The sit-in protest staged in front of Urfa Courthouse by Emine Şenyaşar whose husband and two sons were killed in the attack carried out by the relatives and bodyguards of AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız on June 14, 2018, and her son Ferit Şenyaşar, who survived the attack, has entered its 252nd day. Today, the members of the Association of Solidarity Prisoners' Families on prisons (TUHAY-DER) Van Branch visited the Şenyaşar family, holding their protest in front of the courthouse demanding justice.
Emine Şenyaşar gave information to the members of the TUHAY-DER about their struggle for justice. “I haven’t seen my son held in prison for months. Do you call this justice? Does Erdoğan call this justice? He also has children. Don’t you see what I have faced? Arrest me and send me where my son is held,” Emine Şenyaşar told them.
“Mothers shouldn’t suffer anymore”
Emine Kaya, a member of the Peace Mothers and TUHAY-DER, stated that they are in solidarity with Emine Şenyaşar. “We demand justice. We visit her for peace. A mother has been demanding justice for 252 days. Our children are also held in prison. We demand justice for them, too. Mothers shouldn’t suffer anymore. We came here to support a mother. Don't allow other children to be killed,” Emine Kaya said.
Kudret Temel, the chair of the TUHAY-DER Van branch, also demanded justice, “Thousands of people are behind bars in Turkey. We demand justice demanded by Emine Şenyaşar. The demands of mothers are our demands.”
“We are here to demand justice. Emine Şenyaşar’s son has been held in a single cell for three years and five months. Our children are also in prison. All prisoners should be released. Listen to the mothers,” said Aslıhan Timur, one of the relatives of prisoners.
