Second day of conference held in Beirut
The international women's conference on the experiences of women's movements held in Beirut has entered its second day.
News Center- The international women’s conference on the experiences of women’s movements, which kicked off in Beirut yesterday under the motto, “In the footsteps of Jin, Jiyan, Azadi”, has entered its second day. On the first day of the conference, women from 11 countries participating in the conference shared their experiences.
In the second session, Neslihan Acar, politician and women’s rights activist, highlighted the role of the co-presidential system in the democratization of politics.
‘The female representation in Parliament should increase in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey’
Neslihan Acar said that the search for the truth is about freedom and that the first person who mentioned this idea was Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. Reminding that the women’s representation in municipalities and parliaments all around the world is about 18%, Neslihan Acar said, “However, the percentage of women’s representation in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey is lower.”
In her speech, Siham Reşo, member of the Diplomacy Committee of the Yazidi Free Women's Movement (Kurdish: Tevgera Azadiya Jinên Êzîdî-TAJÊ), drew attention to the experiences of Yazidi women rescued from ISIS.
‘There is a support for Iranian and Afghan women’
Rozerin Kemanger, head of the Committee on Foreign Relations of the East Kurdistan Free Woman Society (KJAR), highlighted the revolution of “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Women, Life, Freedom)” led by women in Eastern Kurdistan. “Iran's Mullah Regime says, ‘We rule Iran, no one can interfere’. After the revolution started in the country, we saw that people rule themselves after the revolution. There is a global support for Iranian and Afghan women.”
80 delegates representing women’s organizations in Tunisia, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Sudan, Turkey, Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Iran, and a delegation from North and East Syria and Shengal have participated in the conference held by the JÎN Women Association, the Newroz Cultural Association and the Noun Initiative for Abdullah Öcalan's Freedom.
Today, the participants will discuss the role of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in the women’s struggle, the isolation imposed on him and how to break the isolation imposed on him in Imrali.
