News Center — Iran is witnessing a sustained escalation in security and judicial measures against activists and detainees linked to protests, coinciding with the execution of new death sentences and the continuation of protest movements in a number of cities demanding improved living and working conditions.

In the latest developments, Iranian authorities have referred the case of Bibi Noor Rejii, one of the women involved in the Taftan gold mine protests, to the Mirjaveh court, following a complaint filed by the Taftan police over her dissemination of videos documenting protests in the Sarsiyeh village—a step that comes within a series of judicial measures taken against participants in the protests.

In Isfahan Province, security forces re-arrested student Mahshad Kashani, who had previously been arrested during the January protests, after four plainclothes officers raided her family's home without presenting a judicial warrant, before transferring her to an unknown location. According to sources close to her family, security forces informed the family that the arrest was due to the opening of a "new case" against her.

Graphic designers Aria Kasaei and Elaheh Nakeilu remain in detention since their arrest in Tehran approximately two weeks ago, with authorities yet to disclose their place of detention or legal status.

In Evin Prison, reports indicated that guards stormed Block 7 and physically assaulted prisoners Amir Hossein Moradi, Ehsan Rostami, and Afshin Rankariz, before transferring them to an undisclosed location, amid fears of further violations.

In Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Baloch blogger Mohsen Dashti was arrested following a raid on his home in the Naserabad area of Konarak city by security forces without a judicial warrant. According to reports, he was arrested using force before being transferred to an unknown location.

On the execution front, reports indicated the implementation of several death sentences in recent days, including the execution of a prisoner in Urmia prison on July 29, the execution of Arvin Kheirkhah, one of the detainees linked to the protests, in Shahroud prison on August 1, in addition to the execution of Mahtab Shir Mohammadi (32) and Cyrus Sayyadi (40) in the central prison of Yasuj city.

Reports also indicated the execution of two individuals on charges of collaboration with Israel, alongside the execution of political prisoner Omid Behzad in Urmia, despite the suspension of his execution order just days earlier. Sources also spoke of the execution of three protest detainees in Isfahan.

According to a report by a human rights organization, the month of July witnessed the execution of at least 67 prisoners, including nine political and religious prisoners—a 30% decrease compared to the same period in 2025, which recorded the execution of 96 prisoners.
