Sebahat Tuncel: May 14 is not the end, but the beginning

Kurdish political prisoner Sebahat Tuncel sent a message from prison about the presidential election held in Turkey on May 14. “May 14 is not the end, but the beginning,” her message said.

Ankara- Sebahat Tuncel, former Co-chair of the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), sent a message from the Sincan Women’s Closed Prison about the presidential election held in Turkey on May 14, 2023.

‘May 14 is not the end, but the beginning’

Her message said: “Hello with resistance and struggle; we said that May 14 is not the end, but the beginning. I believe that we made this beginning strongly despite some deficiencies. We said ‘No’ to fascism. Now is the time to make fascism regress.”

Sebahat Tuncel emphasized in her letter that nothing is over yet, saying, “Our struggle continues. We should remember that accepting the current situation and giving up is a betrayal against our peoples and women. A passive stance is surrender to fascism. Resistance and struggle lead us into success and victory. Let’s bury fascism in the ballot box on May 28 to rebuild life and make the hope of our people come true.”
