Samira Sabzian Fard executed in Iran

Samira Sabzian Fard, a victim of child marriage, was hanged on Wednesday (December 20) for deliberately murdering her husband.

News Center- Samira Sabzian Fard (30), victim of child marriage and domestic violence, was hanged in the Ghezel Hesar prison of Kajar on Wednesday morning for deliberately murdering her husband.

Samira Sabzian Fard was forced into marriage when she was 15. She killed her abusive husband with the help of her sister and another individual in the city of Malard, Tehran Province. In December 2014, she was arrested in the city of Malard on charges of murdering her husband and then she was sentenced to death when she was 19.

She was the mother of two, aged 11 and 15 now. She was not allowed to see her children in prison. Only before her execution, she was able to see her children.

On December 11, she was transferred to solitary confinement to be hanged but then she was sent back to her ward on December 12.

Samira Sabzian Fard is the 21st woman to be executed in Iran 2023 and the 224th woman executed in Iran since 2007.
