On September 14, the young woman was detained at the exit of the metro station in the capital Tehran at around 6:30 p.m. for improperly wearing the hijab. She was tortured in custody and transferred to the Kasra Hospital over the insistence of the other women in custody.

Fighting for her life at the hospital, Mahsa Amini has lost her life due to heart failure.

Her brother Kiaresh Amini announced that his sister died due to torture she was subjected to in custody and that if she had not been transferred to the hospital late, doctors could have saved her.
