LeMan and Bayan Yanı express their support to Başak Demirtaş
LeMan and Bayan Yanı, two satirical magazines in Turkey, have posted the caricatures of Başak Demirtaş on their social media accounts. On the caricatures, they wrote, “We stand by you, Başak Demirtaş.”
News Center- LeMan and Bayan Yanı, two satirical magazines in Turkey, reacted to the sexist attack against Başak Demirtaş by Osman Taşdemir, a lawyer registered to the Istanbul Bar Association.
Both magazines have posted the caricatures of Başak Demirtaş on their social media accounts. “We stand by Başak Demirtaş against the sexist attacks,” read the social media posts of the magazines.
The lawyers of Başak Demirtaş announced that they would file a criminal complaint after the social media user was identified as Osman Taşdemir. In addition, many NGOs and political parties such as the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and the Green Left Party released statements supporting Başak Demirtaş, the wife of HDP former Co-chair Selahattin Demirtaş.
