‘Leader Apo founded the PKK on the basis of peace and democracy'

In an interview with NuJINHA, Stîvan Îbo, a member of the Armenian Community Council of North and East Syria, said that the call of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan “is very important for the Middle Eastern people and the path to a solution. “The call was made while the Middle East has been going through conflict and war as a drop of water that can end conflict and war. This call increases hope and excitement among people.”

‘The message of leader Apo must be welcomed’

Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan has called for peace and democracy since he founded the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Stîvan Îbo stressed, adding:

“The system offered by leader Öcalan to the people aims to ensure a peaceful and free life. Unfortunately, the conspiratorial powers did not accept this system and tried to prevent it by taking him captive and imposing an isolation on him. Due to the process suffered by the region, all states had to seek solutions in Imrali. Therefore, I call on everyone to welcome his message in order to build peace and democracy.”

‘The system of democratic nation is the solution’

Stîvan Îbo reminded the historic successes achieved by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in North and East Syria with the unity and presence of all identities and said, “As the Armenian community, our cause is linked to the Kurdish cause. We would not have been able to know the thoughts and ideology of leader Öcalan without the Kurdish Freedom Movement. Thanks to his thoughts and ideology, not only Armenians but also people from all ethnic and religious identities have gotten to know their history, organized themselves against genocidal policies and formed their own defense forces. The SDF adopts the system of democratic nation and this system is a solution for Syria and will protect the rights of all identities in Syria.”

‘The imprisonment of leader Öcalan prevents the building of peace and democracy’

The Turkish state has blocked the path to solution and the building of peace and democracy by keeping Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in prison, Stîvan Îbo emphasized. “Leader Öcalan must be free to manage the process together with people. We all want to meet leader Apo and see him among us. War is not a solution and it will never be. We must read the books of leader Öcalan. The first step to be taken by the Turkish state is to release leader Öcalan and all political prisoners.”
