Kurdish people in Europe protest killing of Nagihan Akarsel

The killing of Jineolojî Academy member Nagihan Akarsel was protested in many European countries.

News Center- The killing of Nagihan Akarsel, Jineolojî Academy member and Jineolojî Journal Editorial Board member, in Sulaymaniyah was protested in many European countries. The people, mostly women, took to the streets and demanded the killing of Nagihan Akarsel be illuminated.

London

Hundreds of Kurdish people gathered at the Manor House Station in London over the call of the Jiyan Kurdish Women's Assembly to protest the killing of Magihan Akarsel. The people held placards reading, “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Women, Life, Freedom)”, the photographs of Nagihan Akarsel and PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and the flags of the YPJ.

“We vehemently condemn this attack of the genocidal Turkish state. The fascist Turkish state tries to prevent the strengthening women’s revolution in Kurdistan by killing its pioneers. But fascism and betrayers will never achieve this. We condemn this murderous and fascist reaction that killed our comrade Nagihan, and we emphasize once again that we will call them to account with the women's revolution for freedom,” said the statement issued during the protest.

France

Kurdish people gathered in front of the Representative Office of the European Union in Marseille, France, over the call of the Arin Mirkan Women's Assembly. “Shiler Rasouli was killed in Marivan, Jina Amini was killed in Iran and today, Nagihan Akarsel was killed in Sulaymaniyah. Fascist powers carry out attacks against the Kurdish people by killing Kurdish women. Silence will cause more massacres. Tomorrow is too late, take to the streets right now,” said the statement issued by the protesters.

Rennes

Kurdish people gathered at the République Square in Rennes to protest the killing of Nagihan Akarsel. “Women become targets of the states as they struggle against the fascist and patriarchal regimes. This attack carried out against the “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (Women, Life, Freedom)” slogan, which has become a global slogan uniting women in the Middle East and all around the world, and the free women’s paradigm, is a reason for us to strengthen our struggle more. We call on all women, Kurdish people and Kurdish friends to rise up against this attack, which was carried out against the Kurdish people, Kurdish Movement and the free women’s paradigm,” the protesters said in the statement.

Germany

Kurdish people gathered at the Römerberg Square in Frankfurt to protest the killing of Nagihan Akarsel. “The attacks against Kurdish women increase as the Kurdish women's struggle becomes universal. We, as Kurdish women, are Nagihan Akarsel and we are thousands. The male-dominant system should be afraid of us, women. We will call the betrayers, who work coordinately with the AKP-MHP fascism, to account. We will keep struggling and the Jin, Jiyan, Azadi slogan will be your end.

Switzerland

Kurdish people living in Switzerland's Canton of Bern condemned the killing of Nagihan Akarsel by issuing a statement at the Bahnhofplatz Square.

Austria

Kurdish people gathering at the Stephansplatz Square of Vienna protested the killing of Nagihan Akarsel.

Kurdish people staying in the Lavrio refugee camp near Athens also condemned the killing of Nagihan Akarsel by issuing a press statement.

Turkey

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Women’s Council will hold protests in 51 cities today and tomorrow to condemn the killing of Nagihan Akarsel. The killing of Nagihan Akarsel will be also protested in many districts.
