Kurdish activist Halide Dündar has died from heart failure at the age of 61

News Center-  Kurdish activist Halide Dündar, the manager of the Association of Revolutionary Democratic Women (Turkish: Devrimci Demokratik Kadınlar Derneği/DDKAD), has died at the age of 61. She had been intubated for about a month in an Istanbul’s hospital due to heart failure. After a funeral ceremony, she will be buried in Amed’s Lice district tomorrow.

‘As a Kurdish woman, she took part in the feminist revolutionary struggle’

The Women’s Council of Eğitim Sen (Teachers’ Union) Istanbul Branch No.1 shared a post about Halide Dündar on its social media account. “We have lost our friend, comrade, education worker Halide Dündar, who took part in the feminist revolutionary struggle for years as a Kurdish woman. RIP.”

The Eğitim-Sen Istanbul Branch No.1 also shared a post saying, “Unfortunately, we lost our precious comrade Halide Dündar last night. We are in deep grief. We will always remember her struggle. We send our sincere condolences to her family, relatives and all friends. She will be buried in Diyarbakır tomorrow.”
