Journalists held in detention wards without ventilation

21 detainees, including 20 journalists, have been reportedly held in detention wards without ventilation and prevented from going to the toilet.

Amed (Diyarbakır)- 21 people, including 20 journalists were taken into custody in Amed on June 8 as part of an investigation launched by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office. While the journalists have been held in separate detention wards at Diyarbakır Police Department, they face arbitrary practices. According to the received reports, the journalists have been held in detention wards without ventilation and prevented from going to the toilet. Despite all the attempts of journalists suffering from prostate disease, the doors of the wards were not reportedly opened for hours.

 The detention period of the journalists has been extended until June 16 by the Diyarbakır Prosecutor's Office.
