Journalist Nazlıcan Nujin Yıldız acquitted of terrorism charges

Journalist Nazlıcan Nujin Yıldız, reporter of Jinnews, has been acquitted of terrorism charges.

News Center- The fifth hearing of the trial against Jinnews reporter Nazlıcan Nujin Yıldız on charges of “membership in a terrorist organization” was held today by the Izmir 21st High Criminal Court at the Izmir Bayraklı Courthouse.

In their defense, her lawyers submitted documents saying that she is an intern of the Jinnews and that she is a student at Ege University.

She was acquitted

Her lawyers also submitted the documents of the people, who had been acquitted of the same charges, and demanded the acquittal of their client. The court issued the acquittal of the journalist due to the lack of evidence.

Journalist Nazlıcan Nujin Yıldız was initially detained on November 7, 2022 in the operation carried out against the members of the Free Students’ Initiative of Ege University. Then, she was released under judicial control. On February 7, 2023, she was detained again and sent to prison on charges of “membership in a terrorist organization”. In April, the first hearing of the trial against her was held and she was released by the court pending the trial.
