Human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh arrested in Iran

Human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh was forcibly arrested on Sunday in Tehran during the funeral of 16-year-old Armita Garawand, who died on Saturday after nearly a month in intensive care.

News Center- 16-year-old Armita Garawand, who was hospitalized after being physically attacked by Iran’s morality police officers at Tehran Metro on October 1 for not complying with the compulsory “hijab”, died at Fajr Hospital on Saturday (October 28). Her family was not allowed to bury their daughter in her hometown, Kermanshah. On Sunday, she was buried in the Behesht-e Zahra Cemetery in Tehran. Many people attended the funeral of Armita Garawand; however, Iranian security forces attacked and arrested many.

Human rights lawyer Nasrin Sotoudeh was also violently beaten and arrested during the funeral.
