Hengameh Ghaziani and Katayoun Riahi arrested in Iran

Iranian actors Hengameh Ghaziani and Katayoun Riahi have been arrested for removing their hijab in solidarity with the protests that sparked in Iran and Rojhilat following the killing of Jina Mahsa Amini.

Iranian actors Hengameh Ghaziani and Katayoun Riahi have been arrested in the country to be in solidarity with the protesters chanting, “Jin, Jiyan, Azadi (English: Women, Life, Freedom).

The actors have been reportedly arrested for removing their hijab in solidarity with the protests.

Hengameh Ghaziani published a video on Instagram of herself removing the obligatory hijab. “Maybe this will be my last post. From this moment on, whatever happens to me, know that as always, I am with the Iranian people until my last breath,” she wrote on Saturday.

Katayoun Riahi was later arrested in the same probe. She also published her photos without wearing hijab on her social media account in solidarity with the protests.

The two actors were detained after being summoned by prosecutors in a probe into their “provocative” social media posts and media activity. They were then arrested. No information has been received about which prison they have been taken to.
