Family of Gülistan Doku: Reinvestigate the incident
The family of Gülistan Doku, who has been missing for more than three years, wrote a letter to Turkish presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. “Reveal what happened to our daughter by reinvestigating the missing incident,” the letter said.
Amed (Diyarbakır)- Gülistan Doku, a second-year student at Munzur University's Child Development Department, has been missing since January 5, 2020. She went missing after leaving the dormitory. Her family wrote a letter to Turkish presidential candidate Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. “If you become president with the votes of people seeking justice, reveal what happened to our daughter by reinvestigating her missing incident,” the letter said.
‘We have tried to keep believing in justice’
Noting that they are one of the families waiting for May 14 with great hope, the family called on Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to be their voice as he is the voice of the Şenyaşar family.
“Who are we? We are an ordinary family living in the Republic of Türkiye. Actually, we were an ordinary family until our daughter Gülistan Doku went missing in Dersim on January 5, 2020. Three years have passed, three years with pain. Three years is equal to 1,227 days. We calculate every year, month, day, hour and second because we are longing for our daughter, for justice. For more than three years, we have tried to keep believing in justice. We still try. As we see, you try to be the voice of all people facing injustice everywhere. Our daughter Gülistan Doku has been missing in Dersim, where there are surveillance cameras, for three and a half years,” the letter said.
In the letter, the family demanded an effective investigation to be launched into the missing incident and that Zeynal Abrakov, the only suspect, must face trial.
