Presidential election in Turkey goes to second round
In the ‘historical’ presidential and parliamentary elections held in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan, more than one million votes have been considered invalid. In the first round of the presidential election, three candidates have not gotten enough votes.
News Center- The presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey and Northern Kurdistan were held yesterday, May 14. According to unofficial results, the rate of voter turnout was 85.89 percent.
More than one million votes considered invalid
More than 55 million people casted their votes yesterday. 54 million 117,666 votes have been considered valid while one million 30, 810 votes invalid.
Three presidential candidates have not gotten enough votes
In the presidential election, three presidential candidates have not gotten enough votes. According to the Supreme Election Council (Turkish: Yüksek Seçim Kurulu, YSK), Erdoğan got 49.36 percent of the votes, Kılıçdaroğlu got 44.99 percent and Sinan Oğan got 5.21 percent.
The second round is on May 28
According to the election calendar announced by the YSK, the second round of the presidential election will be held on May 28. On May 15, the presidential candidate will kick off their election campaign.
Final election results to be announced on May 19
On May 19, the YSK will announce the final election results. On May 20, the Turkish citizens will be able to cast their votes for the presidential election abroad. On May 24, the voting abroad will end.
The People’s Alliance win 321 seats in the parliament
The People's Alliance (Turkish: Cumhur İttifakı) got 49.32 percent of the votes and won 321 seats in the parliament. The AKP has won 266 seats with 35.43% of the votes, MHP has won 50 with 10.05% and New Welfare Party (Turkish: Yeniden Refah Partisi) has won five seats with 2.84% of votes.
The Nation Alliance has got 35.17 percent of the votes
The Nation Alliance got 35.17 percent of the votes and won 213 seats. The CHP has won 169 seats in the parliament with 25.4% of the votes while the İYİ (Good) Party has won 44 seats with 9.78% of the votes.
The Labour and Freedom Alliance has won 66 seats in the parliament
The Labour and Freedom Alliance got 10.52 percent of the votes and won 66 seats in the parliament. The Green Left Party has won 62 seats in the parliament with 8.79% of the votes while the Workers' Party of Turkey (Türkiye İşçi Partisi-TİP) has won four seats with 1.73% of the votes.
