Detention operations in Ankara and Izmir: 4 women taken into custody

Three members of the Purple Solidarity Association and Hatice Göz, coordinating member of the Social Freedom Party (TÖP), have been detained in the house raids conducted in Ankara and Izmir.

Three members of the Purple Solidarity Association (Mor Dayanışma) have been detained in Ankara. The names of the detained women in Ankara are: Selda Kondakçı, Rüya Özgür and Melike Büyük. In Izmir, Hatice Göz, coordinating member of the Social Freedom Party (Turkish: Toplumsal Özgürlük Partisi-TÖP), has been detained. According to the received information, the women have been detained as part of an investigation launched against them. The details of the investigation are still unknown.

‘The state aims to direct its violence against all opponents’

 Party of the Greens and the Left Future or Greens (Green Left Party) Mersin MP Perihan Koca released a statement about the detention of women. “We think they are in preparation for opening an arbitrary case.  Offering gold jewelry or money as a gift to bridal couples is considered a crime. After the elections, the state aims to direct its violence against all opponents,” the statement said.
