Celebration in Manbij on 7th anniversary of its liberation

On the 7th anniversary of the liberation of Manbij from ISIS, a celebration took place at the square where horrific crimes were committed against people.

Manbij- Last night, the liberation of Manbij from ISIS was celebrated in Manbij. The celebration took place at the square where ISIS executed women and committed crimes against the people of Manbij.

All people attending the celebration wore their traditional clothes. In an interview with NuJINHA, Hayat El-Selam, member of the Manbij Military Council, said, “We are here today by paying a heavy price; hundreds of people were martyred while fighting to liberate the city. We can celebrate the liberation of our city today thanks to the struggle, sacrifice, unity and solidarity of the people of North and East Syria. We consider this day as a historical day.’

‘Today means a rebirth for us’

      

Speaking to our news agency, Siham Hamwa, Co-chair of the Legislative Assembly in Manbij and its countryside, said, “Today means a rebirth for us and for Manbij. Women played an important role in fighting ISIS. This day is important for us because women were liberated from slavery.”

‘The joy of freedom shone’

       

“The city is a model of coexistence and fraternity because it hosts people from different nations and beliefs with their cultures. They showed great solidarity against the persecution of ISIS. Seven years ago, the joy of freedom shone in Manbij and people rebuilt their city together,” said  Siham Daoud, Secretary-General of the Future Syria Party,

       

The celebration took place at the square in the city. Buthaina Al-Hassan, member of the Future Syria Party Women’s Council, told us that ISIS had executed women at that square before the city was liberated.
