"Attacks won't break the will of women"

The murders of three female fighters by the Turkey’s drones were protested by women of Qamishlo and Aleppo.

Qamishlo/Aleppo- The women of Qamishlo and Aleppo participating in the march led by Kongra Star condemned the ongoing Turkey’s attacks in the North and East Syria. The women issued a statement and promised to struggle against the attacks by emphasizing the murders of three female fighters by the Turkey’s drones.

Kongra Star office in Qamishlo held a march to condemn the murders of three female fighter, Jiyan Tolhildan, Roj Xabûr and Barîn Botan by the Turkish drones on July 22, 2022. During the march, the women shouted slogans calling on Turkey to stop its attacks in North and East Syria immediately. The women carrying the photographs of three female fighters began to march at the Şerqi Junction of Qamishlo and ended their march in front of the Delil Saroxan Cemetery.

“The aim of the attacks is to destroy the struggle of women”

Emel Şemdin, deputy co-mayor of the Qamishlo Municipality, spoke to NuJINHA. Condemning the ongoing Turkish attacks in the region, she said that drones kill the people of all ages, including children.

“As women, our stance against the enemy and the fascist Turkish state is clear. The Turkish government targets our project and defeats the women’s revolution and struggle. The revolution that took place here was led by women and thousands of women paid a heavy price while realizing this revolution. Zehra Berkel and her two comrades were killed in the village of Helincê (Halinja) near Kobanê. Hind and Seda Şedad were also killed. On July 22, three female fighters named Jiyan Tolhildan, Roj Xabur andBarin Botan were killed. Lastly, three female members of the security forces were targeted and killed. We will always stand firm and fight by shouting ‘‘jin, Jiyani Azadi (Women, Life, Freedom)’ to give a message to the enemy.”

“We will not leave our lands”

Hizbiye Ebas Yûsif, one of the women participating in the march, stated that Turkey targets women because it is afraid of the women’s power. Adding that they will never leave their lands, Hizbiye Ebas Yûsif said, “Even though we are innocent, the Turkish state attacks our lands and people by using artillery, rockets and drones every day. We will defend our lands and we will not leave our lands to the end. We are not afraid of the jets and drones of the Turkish state and its allies. Today, the international community keeps silent against the attacks on us because it does not care about human rights. If the people had rights, the women’s rights would be protected. The women were killed because they defended their cause.”
