Algeria — Amnesty International's report affirmed that Israeli settlement policies in the West Bank are causing widespread displacement of Bedouin and pastoral communities, documenting violations that amount, in its assessment, to war crimes and crimes against humanity within a systematic policy aimed at expanding control over Palestinian lands .
Amnesty International organized a discussion evening yesterday, Sunday, June 12, at its headquarters, dedicated to reviewing its report titled "Erasing All That Is Palestinian: Israel's Ethnic Cleansing of Bedouin and Pastoral Communities in the West Bank," attended by a number of human rights advocates and those interested in the Palestinian cause .
The report addressed developments in the Palestinian cause, shedding light on Israeli settlement policies in the West Bank, particularly in Area C, which constitutes more than 60 percent of the West Bank's area, and the resulting, according to the report, displacement of Palestinian Bedouin and pastoral communities .
Sophia Polsnam, an Amnesty International member and the report's author, said in a special interview with our agency: "Israel is carrying out ethnic cleansing against Palestinians, which we discussed in this report that provides substantial evidence regarding Israel's policies and the bloody massacres it is committing in the Gaza Strip" .
She added that the report was based on field investigations and legal analysis, and documented, according to the organization, the displacement of thousands of Palestinians from Bedouin and pastoral communities in the West Bank as a result of settler attacks, alongside settlement policies, land seizure, home demolitions, and the imposition of restrictions on Palestinians' access to their lands .
The organization explained that the report concluded, according to its assessment, that the violations committed constitute war crimes and crimes against humanity, affirming that what is happening "is not individual or isolated acts but a systematic policy aimed at displacing Palestinians and expanding Israeli control over occupied Palestinian lands" .
An Amnesty International member called on the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and take effective measures to ensure accountability for those responsible for these violations and to put an end to the phenomenon of impunity
