Al-Mawadda Party: First women’s party founded in Iraq

Women from different sects and social backgrounds in Iraq have founded the first women’s party named “Al-Mawadda” to increase women’s political participation in the country.

News Center- Women from different sects and social backgrounds in Iraq have founded Iraq’s first women’s party named “Al-Mawadda” to empower women in politics and increase women’s political participation in the country.

At the first conference of the party, the founders said that the party was founded to “empower women in politics and increase women’s political participation” in the country for a better “Iraq”.

The foundation of the first women’s political party in Iraq is seen as “an important step” for Iraqi women and “a turning point” in their political participation.

At the conference, the women said that the party, as an initiative aiming at the unity of women from various sects and social backgrounds and the empowerment of women’s role in politics, emerged as a result of discussions and meetings having been held by women's movements and organizations in the country.
