Afghan authorities reported today, Tuesday, July 21, that 20 people have died, 80 have been injured, and more than 100 remain missing due missing due to the floods that struck the city of Parun in Nuristan Province, eastern Afghanistan. The governor's spokesperson stated that flash floods swept through the city yesterday afternoon, Monday, causing substantial loss of life and property, while rescue teams and local authorities continue search operations for the missing.

Video footage circulating on social media showed floodwaters surging powerfully through residential neighborhoods in Parun, with water washing away sections of roads and property and causing extensive damage to homes and facilities.
