AANES condemns attack on vehicle of JIN TV
The Media Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) has released a statement condemning the drone attack on the vehicle of JIN TV.
News Center- The Media Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) has released a written statement on Wednesday about Turkish drone attack on the vehicle carrying the crew of the JIN TV, an all-women channel, on Qamishli-Amuda road yesterday afternoon that killed a press worker and injured a journalist.
Reminding that Turkey has downed in the 2023 World Press Freedom Index, the statement said, “The Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries continue committing more massacres against the people of North and East Syria. It keeps violating all international conventions and agreements protecting civilians in conflict. The Turkish occupation state continues using the term ‘combating terrorism’ to target the journalists. Turkey ranked 49th among 180 countries in the Reporters Without Borders (RSF) 2022 World Press Freedom Index.”
The Media Department of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES) has documented that six journalists have been killed in different areas of Syria since the beginning of 2023. “The latest journalist killed in North and East Syria was ANHA correspondent Isam Abdullah. Today, a drone belonging to the Turkish occupation state targeted a vehicle carrying journalists in North and East Syria in front of the international community, the UN Security Council and human rights organizations. We call on the international community and all relevant parties to hold the Turkish occupation state accountable for its crimes in the region.”
