Qamishlo- 48 people, including two children, have been killed in the Turkish attacks on North and East Syria since October 5. In addition, the Turkish bombardments have targeted 17 oil fields, 11 energy supplies, two health centers, a bakery, 48 schools, more than 10 factories and companies. In an interview with NuJINHA, Ahîn Siwêd, deputy co-chair of the Jazira Region Executive Council, commented on the recent Turkish attacks on North and East Syria.

“North and East Syria has been targeted by the Turkish state since the beginning of the July 19 Revolution and the establishment of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria,” Ahîn Siwêd said, “The Turkish state has been intensifying its attacks on North and East Syria since October 5. The ongoing Turkish attacks target the infrastructures, institutions and organizations, buildings providing services to the people and the basic living resources of the people.”

‘It aims to displace people’

Ahîn Siwêd thinks that the Turkish state wants to destroy the unity and peace in the region and force people to displacement again. “The aims of the attacks very clear. The first aim of the Turkish state is to destroy the security and peace in North and East Syria. It targets the basic living resources of the people because it aims to displace people again. The Turkish state also aims to destroy the system based on democracy in the region.”

Speaking about the gains of the revolution in Rojava, Ahîn Siwêd said, “As it is known, the revolution in Rojava is a popular revolution led by women. The people of Rojava Kurdistan created their economy out of nothing. The ongoing Turkish attacks target 12-year gains of the people. Now, the Turkish state attacks civilian settlements. So far, 17 oil fields, 11 energy supplies, two health centers, a bakery, 48 schools, more than 10 factories and companies have been targeted. The people of the Jazira Region have been left without electricity and water.”

The fight against drugs

On October 8, the Turkish state targeted the academy of the Internal Security Forces in the Jazira Region, killing 29 members of the anti-drug unit and injuring 28 members of the unit. “Our anti-drug unit has made great efforts to prevent drug use and protect the people against drug use. As the Autonomous Administration, we will keep fighting against drugs.”

‘We consider the silence as a cooperation’

Mentioning the silence of the international coalition and community against the crimes committed by the Turkish state in North and East Syria, Ahîn Siwêd said, “We consider this silence as a cooperation with the crimes committed by the Turkish state. The Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has fought ISIS for years. However, the international coalition and community remain silent against the crimes committed by the Turkish state. We will keep protecting our people from the Turkish attacks."
