Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Deputy Co-chair Şehla Hefid calls on people to not “remain silent” against the ongoing Turkish attacks supported by the KDP and says, “If we remain silent, we will be annihilated. For this reason, we must take a stance against the attacks and break our silence.”

TEWAR PÊNCAWÎN

Sulaymaniyah – Turkey continues to carry out attacks in the Kurdistan Region with the cooperation of the KDP. Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) Deputy Co-chair Şehla Hefid says Erdoğan attacks Kurdistan because he faces a political crisis in Turkey. “The Turkish state says that they were able to enter Southern Kurdistan with the support of their friends. Erdoğan’s friends should know that these attacks and plans aim to annihilate the Kurds. The KDP should be aware that if Turkish soldiers enter Southern Kurdistan, other parts of Kurdistan will be also threatened,” she said.

Intolerance to unity

Speaking about this year’s Newroz celebrations, Şehla Hefid said, “This year, the Kurds gave a message of unity against oppression and occupation during the Newroz celebrations. This message made the Turkish state angry. It started attacking again to break the unity of the Kurdish people. It has been carrying out its attacks against the PKK, but the whole world knows that the PKK is an organization founded to protect the Kurds. Erdoğan is carrying out attacks and killing people in the name of Islam and sharia. However, the Qur'an prohibits wars within four months. Ramadan is one of these months. But Erdoğan began to carry out the attacks in Ramadan.”

“Don’t remain silent against the attacks”

Stating that the cooperation of Turkey's friends (KDP) poses a risk for Kurdistan and that its silence means betrayal, Şehla Hefid said, “We shouldn’t remain silent against the invasion attacks. Remaining silent against these attacks means our annihilation. We should all take a stand and not remain silent against these attacks. Women should play a role in preventing the attacks. Especially mothers whose spouses and relatives are Peshmerga members should have an attitude and not allow their relatives to become the black side of history. We must all organize ourselves. Journalists, writers, artists, and religious people should not remain silent against these attacks. Kurdish women always have an important role in society. They fought ISIS in Rojava. They are waging a guerrilla struggle in the North. And they protect their lands in the mountains. A national stance against invasion attacks is a must.”
