Iranian journalist Vida Rabbani conditionally released from Evin prison

Vida Rabbani, an Iranian journalist and human rights activist, was conditionally released from Evin prison on Wednesday.

News Center- Vida Rabbani, an Iranian journalist and human rights activist, was conditionally released from Evin prison after serving 32 months in prison, her lawyer, Parto Borhanpour, announced on Wednesday.

On September 24, 2022, Vida Rabbani was arrested for reporting the nationwide protests that sparked in Iran following the killing of Mahsa Jina Amini. On December 31, 2022, she was sentenced to seven years and three months in prison on charges of “acting and colluding against national security” and “spreading propaganda against the system”.

Previously, she was arrested by security forces on November 22, 2020 over her social media posts on the protests sparked by the anniversary of the downing of the Ukrainian commercial flight in 2020. She was sentenced to 10 years and four months in prison on charges of “blasphemy,” “assembly and collusion to act against national security,” “propaganda against the regime,” and “disrupting public order”.
