Investigation into killing of Firdevs Babat completes

The investigation into the killing of Firdevs Babat by Ahmet Babat in the city of Şırnak has completed. According to the report, Firdev Babat was sexually attacked and killed by Ahmet Babat, who used the gun of village guard Ramazan Babat.

Şirnex – Dead body of Firdebs Babat (17), who went missing on August 18 in the Uludere district of Şırnak province, was found in the Hezil River in the district on August 19. Ahmet Babat (21), the last person who saw Firdevs Babat, was taken into custody. He was sent to prison after confessing that he had killed Firdevs Babat by using the gun of his brother, Ramazan Babat. Uludere Chief Public Prosecutor's Office completed its investigation into the murder. In the investigation report, the prosecutor’s office demands prison sentence against Ahmet Babat for “Deliberate killing of a child”.

He confessed he had sexually attacked her

The investigation report includes the investigation report on the scene, autopsy report, criminal report and statements of the perpetrator. In his statements, Ahmet Babat said that he had met Firdevs Babat at her home and taken her to Hezil River after the conflict between them. Then, he went to his brother’s home and took his gun after telling Firdevs, “I will bring water”. He confessed that he killed Firdevs Babat after raped her.

Blood and hair samples matched the perpetrator's DNA

According to the autopsy report, Firdevs Babat was killed by a gun and at least six bullets were found in her body. The investigation report on the scene says that the blood and hair samples found on the scene have matched with the perpetrator’s DNA. The reports also found out that the bullets were fired from the gun of village guard Ramazan Babat.

An indictment is expected to be prepared after the two-page investigation report.

Court decided not to prosecute Ramazan Babat

In May, 24-year-old village guard Ramazan Babat sexually abused a child in the Şenoba town of Şırnak’s Uludere district. After the incident was revealed, Ramazan Babat reportedly offered money to the victim’s family to cover up the incident. He was taken into custody and then sent to prison on charges of “sexually abusing a child”. After these incidents, the people of the town reacted to the Babat family and the family left the town. A court decided not to prosecute the investigation launched into Ramazan Babat.
