Hasakah- The Economy Committee of Kongra Star held its 3rd Conference with the motto, “We develop the economy of society led by women and let’s perpetuate the revolution” with the participation of 300 delegates, coordinating members of Kongra Star in Hasakah and Qamishlo, spokesperson of the Economy Committee of Kongra Star, members of the Women’s Cooperatives, Armenian Women’s Union, Syriac Women’s Union and the representatives of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria (AANES).

The Women's Economic Committee was established in 2015 under the leadership of Delal Nûrhak, who was killed in the Medya Defense Zones in the Turkish attacks carried out on 13 September 2019, with the aim of carrying out works to build a communal life for women and promote women’s economic empowerment. In the first two years, the committee developed many projects, including handicraft projects, animal husbandry projects and agricultural development projects. The photographs of Delal Nûrhak and Zeynep Saroxan were hung on the walls of the conference hall. At the conference hall, some women exhibited their products.

“We must organize with the perspective of Abdullah Öcalan”

Kongra Star Spokesperson Remziye Mihemed made a speech at the conference and said, “This conference is important to hold the 9th conference of Kongra Star. We must organize ourselves more. We must organize ourselves with the perspective of Abdullah Öcalan. This is the only way to resist the male-dominant system.”

An academy will be opened

After discussion on many issues, the women prepared a two-year working plan. The women decided to open an ideological academy named after Delal Nûrhak. In Addition, the women decided to make more efforts for cooperatives.
