Women of Manbij demand end of isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan

Women of Manbij demanding the end of the isolation imposed on Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan say they will take to the streets until he has his physical freedom.

Manbij- Yesterday, the Syrian initiative for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan launched a tent protest in coordination with the Democratic Society Academy, Health Committee and Social Justice Council in Manbij for physical freedom of Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan. Women visiting the tent to support the protest told NuJINHA that they will keep holding protests until Abdullah Öcalan has his physical freedom. They also called for the end of the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan. A banner reading, “We demand Abdullah Öcalan be allowed to meet his lawyers” was hung in the tent.

‘He should have his physical freedom’

In the interview with NuJINHA, Asya El Hisên, spokesperson of the initiative, said, “We demand the Council of Europe Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) to issue a statement on the condition of leader Abdullah Öcalan. We raise our voices to end the isolation imposed on leader Öcalan in this sensitive period. As the people of North and East Syria, we need the guidance of leader Öcalan. We, as the peoples who embrace the thoughts, ideology, resistance and determination of our leader, will keep holding protests until he has his physical freedom.”

‘He has played a key role’

NuJINHA also spoke to Neqşiye Xelîl, member of the Democratic Society Academy. “Leader Öcalan has played a key role in the solution of all problems in the Middle East. Conspiracies will not stop the project of our leader. We will not stop demanding his physical freedom,” Neqşiye Xelîl said.

‘Thoughts of Öcalan have united us’

One of the members of the Martyr Ismail Qamar Ibrahim Academy said, “Our aim is to make our voices heard by the CPT and the international community and to break the isolation imposed on leader Abdullah Öcalan. The thoughts of Öcalan have united us.”

‘Isolation is an unlawful practice’

Asala Ağa, member of the Social Justice Council, stated that the isolation imposed on Abdullah Öcalan is an unlawful and inhuman practice.
