Ankara - Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Co-chair Tülay Hatimoğulları shared the details of the meeting of the DEM Party Imrali Delegation with Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in the prison island of Imrali at the party’s group meeting at the parliament on Tuesday.
Abdullah Öcalan conveyed his regards
Speaking about the second meeting with Kurdish leader Abdullah Öcalan in the prison island of Imrali on January 22, 2025, Tülay Hatimoğulları said, “What was discussed at the meeting in Imrali? The road map that emerged from the meeting in Imrali is, of course, an issue waited by the Turks, Kurds and all people living in this country. Before giving more details, I would like to say that Mr.Öcalan conveyed his regards to all citizens.”
Resorting to ‘wait and see’ policies would be the worst thing done against the people of Türkiye.
Then, Tülay Hatimoğulları mentioned the statements of Abdullah Öcalan during the meeting. “He said he continued his work. I would like to share with you some important issues that concern society in Türkiye. Mr.Öcalan evaluated the recent global, regional and national crises. He said that resorting to ‘wait and see’ policies regarding the resolution of the Kurdish question and the democratization of Türkiye would be the worst thing done against the people of Türkiye amid these crises. The way to protect society in Türkiye and the people of the region against the crises is obvious. The call of Mr. Öcalan is clear.”
Solution based on democracy without violence
The democratization of Türkiye is the only way to save it from crises. In this context, Mr. Öcalan emphasized at the meeting once again that he aimed to move the issue from the violence and conflict to democratic law and democratic politics. As Mr. Öcalan emphasized during the second meeting, cooperation at critical turning points in history makes significant contributions to the solution of problems. At the meeting on January 22, Mr. Öcalan emphasized that the fundamental solution for existing problems is only possible through democratic law.”
Mr. Öcalan is ready to offer a roadmap for the resolution and the exit from the crisis, Tülay Hatimoğulları stressed in her speech.
